The pp60v-src kinase is the transforming principle of the Rous Sarcoma Virus. The pp60v-src kinase, a protein with a molecular weight of 60 kDa, is phosphorylated in serine and has tyrosine kinase specific activity. One of the substrates of the pp60v-src kinase is M2-PK (PKM2).
Phosphorylation of M2-PK in tyrosine by the pp60v-src kinase leads to:
- A dimerization of M2-PK and
- an increase of phosphometabolite levels due to the inactivation of M2-PK
